SUCHES TO SIX GAP LOOP
ROUTE: GA-180, 19, 60
DISTANCE: 35 miles

First up on our list for the best motorcycle rides in Georgia is this loop through Suches and Six Gap. Fine tune your riding skills along the twisties around Vogel State Park, and loop south down Route 19 in the southern portion of Chattahoochee National Forest. This exceptional ride through the forest will provide some significant changes in elevation. US-19 is great because it’s a two lane road up the mountain, allowing for easy passing. Route 180 is very narrow with countless blind turns and steep elevation changes. There are numerous fantastic overlooks along this ride to take advantage of the views. It’s a challenging ride, but many portions of this GA motorcycle ride are relaxing and enjoyable with incredible scenery. COLUMBUS TO FDR STATE PARK LOOP
ROUTES: US-27, 27 ALT, GA-190
DISTANCE: 59 miles
TIME: 1 hour
Take this great Georgia motorcycle ride up from Columbus to FD Roosevelt State Park for extraordinary views. Ride through various farm land, mountain scenery, and some curvy roads through the wooded areas of western Georgia. Route 90 is especially curvy with lots of drop offs. In addition, these roads are clean and well maintained, making this an excellent choice for motorcyclists of all skill levels. This is an especially beautiful ride in autumn when the leaves change color. If you have the time, this loop has several connector roads through Pine Mountain Valley and the surrounding area that are great to ride as well, including Trammel Mill Rd, Kings Gap Rd and Hamilton/Pleasant Grove Rd, just to name a few. If you’re looking for great motorcycle roads near Columbus, the ride through FDR State Park is one of the best motorcycle routes in Georgia.

TENNGA TO ELLIJAY
ROUTES: Hwy 441, GA-2/52
DISTANCE: 41 miles
TIME: 1 hour
There’s some great forest scenery and great curves along this Georgia motorcycle route, especially on Hwy 52 through Fort Mountain State Park. Start this route on the TN state line on US-441 south and on to Chatsworth, and take a left on Hwy 52 through the Fort Mountain State Park area. Keep an eye out for the awesome lookouts available on Hwy 52 that offer beautiful mountaintop scenery. The roads here have generally very good pavement for riding as well. While US-411 is mainly straight riding, it’s still a worthy route. Hwy 52/GA-2 is where all the fun twisting riding is. Enjoy the state’s fantastic back country on one of the best Georgia motorcycle rides. The state park portion of this ride is so good, you’ll probably want to turn back and do it again!

RICHARD RUSSELL SCENIC PARK LOOP
ROUTES: GA-75, 180, 348
DISTANCE: 38 miles
TIME: 1 hour
This official byway tours the deep wilderness of northeast Georgia, just 90 miles northeast of Atlanta. Start this route from Helen and travel north on the challenging Unicoi Turnpike, circling around back via the fantastic Russell Scenic Hwy. With the exception of Helen, most riders experience very little traffic on these roads, making this one of the best motorcycle roads in Georgia. Ride along thick forest, waterfalls, and beautiful mountain views. There’s numerous hikes in this region that are worth checking out for a chance to stretch the legs. Be sure to take the short, twisty road up to Brasstown Bald (Georgia’s tallest mountain) to for great views overlooking Chattahoochee Forest. It’s a perfect spot to absorb the scenery of Georgia’s rolling highlands.

TALKING ROCK TO DELONEGA
ROUTES: GA-136, State Rt 9e
DISTANCE: 48 miles
TIME: 1 hour
For an excellent ride with beautiful views of Georgia’s Blue Ridge region, check out this ride from Talking Rock to Dahlonega. It features Georgia Route 136, which will take you through farm land and mountains with very little traffic. About 4 miles past Route 9, turn left onto Auraria Road, which parallels Routes 9 and 19, but is more scenic. The curves are sweeping, but not twisty. You’ll have great views and enough turns and elevation changes to make it an enjoyable ride. There are several places you can pull off to take in the beautiful scenery. Note there is not much in terms of places to stop for gas so make sure you full up before setting off. Also, riders have reported gravel on the roads along some of these curves, so keep your eyes open and enjoy this great Georgia motorcycle ride!

JOHNS MOUNTAIN TO CLOUDLAND CANYON
ROUTE: GA-136, Armuchee Rd, Pocket Rd, Floyd Springs Rd
DISTANCE: 72 miles
TIME: 2 hours
This Georgia motorcycle ride connects Cloudland Canyon State Park down towards the Johns Mountain Wildlife Management area. These are two great parks to motorcycle through in the northwest corner of Georgia. The ride offers some glorious vistas and hairpin turns. The scenery will range from lightly developed farmland to some excellent valley views, and includes the Lookout Mountain Scenic Hwy. Once in the Cloudland area, your ride will elevates from the valley to the top of Lookout Mountain and the other nearby mountains and ridges. Autumn is one of the best seasons to take this route as the fall colors add to the vibrant scenery. The route we’ve included here will take just under 2 hours to ride, but the side roads in the Johns Mountain Wildlife area are worth exploring if you want to extend your motorcycle tour. There’s also a few short hikes in this region to check out, including the beautiful Keown Falls.

TATE TO FAIRMOUNT
ROUTES: Hwy 53, Henderson Mtn Rd, Salacoa Rd
DISTANCE: 46 miles
TIME: 1 hour
One of the shorter rides on our list for the best motorcycle roads in Georgia is just south of the Chattahoochee National Forest and an hour north of Atlanta. Georgia Hwy 53 is a route between Tate and Dawsonville, GA. It’s a very clean road with lots of turns and with some 8-10 percent elevation grade changes. There are a few sections where experienced motorcyclists will enjoy honing their skills on various tight, blind turns. There are some great locations to look out over the hills at various points along this great Georgia motorcycle road. The road continues to be great along Henderson Mountain Rd and Salacoa Rd all the way to US-441. With its fun turns and lookout locations across the hilly countryside, it’s one of the best motorcycle rides north of Atlanta.
