WHY MOTORCYCLISTS DON’T NEED A THERAPIST

What is it about riding a motorcycle that’s so therapeutic? Here are 4 reasons why motorcyclists don’t need a therapist.

Are you overworked, underpaid and just overall feeling mildly depressed and anxious? Is there some hobby or pastime that can give you inspiration and make you feel glad to be alive?

We’d argue riding a motorcycle is good therapy if done responsibly . Here are four reasons why you’ll never see a motorcycle parked in front of a therapist’s office:

1.) Stress reliever. Embarking on a scenic motorcycle ride decreases stress while at the same time increases your adrenaline. The mental and physical involvement of riding a motorcycle can push aside the day’s concerns as you concentrate on your ride and focus on the next corner. Sometimes a 30 minute ride after work, or a 2 hour ride on the weekend can be just what you need.

2.) Staying focused. If your goal is to ride a motorcycle safely , you can’t be worried about anything else while riding. Having laser focus while riding a motorcycle keeps your mind alert. It simultaneously allows you to clear your head of all the anxieties of daily life. Even the dangers of the ride can be made into therapy. Why? Because motorcyclists get trained into remaining in the moment, just trying to stay alive!

3.) Social benefits. If you’re looking to widen out and make new friends, there are countless number of rallies and bike week events that bring people together. These motorcycle rallies and bike week events can create opportunities for you to meet like-minded people who can totally relate to your motorcycling therapy needs!

4.) See the sights. Another reason why riding a motorcycle is such good therapy, is because it’s a great way to travel and see the country. Seeing the best parts of a country while traveling by motorcycle can give you a tremendous amount of inspiration. There’s scenic motorcycle routes featuring waterfalls, national and state parks, as well as fun, twisty roads.
