Flint Hills National Scenic Byway
Route 177 (108 miles)
This north/south scenic road will take you through some of the state's historic rural country. It includes Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, through the Kansas Flint Hills. It is a beautiful motorcycle ride throughout most of the year, showing off the panoramic vistas of the tallgrass prairie and some green rolling hills as far as the eye can see.
If you're looking to tour northern Kansas, US-36 is just under 400 miles of smooth, lightly traveled pavement and offers a slice of the various geographic zones of Kansas. The western end is straight and flat, and the middle portion of the route rolls gently among stunning panoramic views. The eastern end keeps on rolling and features cuts in the limestone formations that are prevalent on that side of the state. Check out the motorcycle museum in St. Francis.
Leavenworth to Wyandotte Park
KS-5, N93 St, West Dr (13 miles)
This short route is packed with hills, hidden turns and elevation changes. It is a more technical ride so some level of caution is required as there are lots of short blind rises and tight corners. The road surface is in excellent condition, and there is more beautiful scenery further south at Wyandotte County Lake Park.
