The Green Mountain Scenic Byway is one of the best motorcycle routes in Central Florida, and for good reason. Just northwest of Orlando, this winding byway offers elevation changes, lake overlooks, and tree-lined curves not typically found in the rest of the state. As you ride through the Lake Apopka area, motorcyclists will experience twisty sections, gentle hills, and plenty of photo-worthy viewpoints.
We’ve ridden this road in January and found we had most of the road to ourselves to enjoy by motorcycle. So, if planning a ride here, keep in mind the traffic is usually light on a weekday, which gives riders a calm and enjoyable experience. Because of its curves and scenery, the byway is ideal for both relaxed cruising and spirited riding sessions.

If you’re looking for a forested, curvy motorcycle ride near Orlando, the backroads through the Ocala National Forest are a perfect choice. This smooth two-lane motorcycle route passes through thick pine stands, small lakes, and quiet recreation areas.
Many websites list FL-19 through the Ocala National Forest as a good motorcycle ride, but it’s mostly straight and usually very busy with traffic. The serene backroads that travel just west of that main highway offer a far superior route for those who are looking for a curvy motorcycle ride. Our friends at Diamond Motorcycle took us through Hwy 314 and 314A in January, and we found it to be a blast to ride.
In fact, we’d argue this Central Florida motorcycle route is one of the best-kept secrets in the state. Additionally, recently repaved roads make this a smooth ride for 2025-2026. Because most people only travel on these roads if they live on them, it keeps traffic light, and you may even spot deer along the road—so you’ll want to keep your eyes open for wildlife sightings.
Overall, this Ocala National Forest motorcycle ride is one of the best ways to escape the busy city streets and experience Central Florida’s natural beauty.
